Mikayla Sager, soprano
Praised for her “pure, lyrical and soaring voice” by Allegri con fuoco, Canadian soprano Mikayla Sager is a rising soprano with affinity for the grand Bel Canto masterpieces. This season, Ms. Sager was a finalist in the Dutch National Opera, Paris Opera House, Theatre Basel, Florida Grand Opera, Mildred Miller International Voice Competition, a Semi-Finalist in the Opera Index Competition, and heard in a masterclass with the Metropolitan Opera Guild as “Donna Anna” from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Throughout this past winter, Sager also recorded multiple tracks with esteemed producer Simon Kiln, in collaboration with Decca Records (London, UK.) Last summer, Sager joined Teatro Nuovo (formerly Caramoor Festival) as an Apprentice Artist during their inaugural season, where she was heard under the baton of Jonathan Brandani and Will Crutchfield, Sager was a part of Mayr’s Medea in Corinto, as well as performed excerpts of Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito as Vitellia. Last season, Ms. Sager performed the roles of Violetta from Verdi’s La Traviata, Fiordiligi from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, was a semi-finalist in the Premiere Vocal Competition, and seen in concert throughout Canada and the United States. Previous roles include Micaëla (Carmen), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Norina (Don Pasquale), The Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen), Pamina and Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte), and many more. She has performed at David Geffen Hall with the New York Philharmonic, with New York City Opera in Mosè in Egitto, Carnegie hall, and others. In 2016, Sager was the Young Artist in residence with the Hawaii International Music Festival, Resident Artist with Venture Opera and has appeared in numerous recitals with “Opera Exposures.” In 2015, Sager completed her undergraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music, and currently lives in New York City.

Mikayla Sager has just been selected as one of the finalists for the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center Ensemble. Out of over 400 singers from around the world, only 20 finalists have been chosen to perform on the Lyric Opera’s MainStage on September 15th, 2019.
